Yank Vs Brit Boxing Fans – What’s All the Fighting About?
Despite rumors (or shall I say rumours?) to the contrary, obviously all the major disputes between the Yanks and the Brits weren’t resolved with the Treaty of Paris.
Specific boxing websites and boards have cultivated rife with animosity between supporters domiciled on the east and west ends of the Atlantic https://tragedyinfo.com/rowlands-gill-missing-boy-rowlands-gill-help-find-missing-james-malone/.
One does not have to locate these sites lengthy before experiencing a Brit who views Yanks as obnoxious, arrogant Neanderthals who stop spewing verbal rubbish just good enough to material yet another burger into their fat faces.
And at the least a couple of Americans see their English counterparts as both obtuse, insular blokes “hanging on in quiet desperation” while the grand Floyd after proclaimed, or club home miscreants owning all the social graces of Steve Lydon circa 1977.
The evident reason behind the vitriol seems to be the observed disrespect of English fighters found by some American bloggers and writers. The Americans, for their portion, have the Brits to be also thin in skin regarding their practitioners, struggling to take also the least bit of criticism along with showing an anti-American attitude in general.
I need to concur that certainly some of these American “authors” seem to occur for the only purpose of trashing English fighters. At the same time, if the Brits greater understood the culture of American activities supporters, they’d probably be less inclined to take offense to the more realistic criticisms made by reliable American writers.
As quite a while boxing fan from America who has just been already subjected to my fellow English supporters en masse, I was rather amazed to locate this “Pull versus Brit” sniping occurring.
I was amazed because here in the Claims, among my several friends and acquaintances, I have however to hear an individual word of anti-British sentiment. My give to God. I combination my heart. On my grandmother’s grave. Not really a word.
Obviously, in the arenas on fight evening wherever national anthems are now being played and booed, banners are now being waved and tracks are now being sung and yelled down, it is just a different story. I’ve been to fights like this. It is just a two-way street. Fans from equally ideologies have a tendency to become very vocal and nationalistic.
Of my friends and acquaintances, over fifty percent were pulling for Calzaghe to overcome Hopkins and all but one wanted Hatton to mass Mayweather – and he was from Floyd’s hometown. Floyd’s skills are respected in the Claims but his attitude is generally loathed.
The rubbish that is being strewn toward English practitioners by some of these American so called “authors” is just that – complete rubbish. The talentless hacks who create this nonsense are generally identifiable by their failure to line two defined phrases together. They’re not reliable authors, journalists or spokesmen for American boxing fans. They’re a tiny but irritatingly vocal minority who obviously have nothing greater to do than rabble rouse within the protection of cyberspace. However ignorance and absurdity are not constrained by nationality, creed or gender.
